BENFICA SHOWCASE
Over the years, SL Benfica has built a reputation for scouring the globe to find the very best talented football players. This summer, two Benfica Coaches will be visiting Canada for the first to seek the best talent.

This is an outstanding opportunity for athletes of all ages to demonstrate their skills in front of the Benfica Coaches, and hopefully catch their eye.
​
The combine is designed to give players of a high standard a chance for a full and accurate assessment of their chances of progression to the professional ranks. The event includes tactical and technical activities within small and full-sided game situations designed to facilitate a player’s knowledge and ability.

17 - 21 YEARS OLD
Previously, our Academy has focused on seeking the best talent across Portugal and then cast our net wider scouring Europe and South America.
​
However, the unprecedented growth of the game in North America has compelled us to take a closer look here, in particular since the World Cup is arriving next year too.
THE FORMAT
At the European professional level, 'showcases' are short, intense and simple.
There is no space for 'vertical leaps' or even sprinting. We know this is common in North American sports, but this is not an important part of our game. Instead we focus on the game fundamentals:

THE REWARD
The top player from both of our Canadian Showcases will 'win' a paid tour experience to Portugal to train at Benfica HQ in Seixal and play in full matches vs. professional clubs. You just have to cover your own flight!

The top 15 players from across the 2 Showcases will be invited to join our Allstar Team competing in Lisbon and The Algarve.

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT
The word 'showcase' means different things to different people, and since in Portugal it is not a common term, we thought we should clarify what our event is not. Yes, there will be decision makers on the field from Benfica Academy watching the players, but under no circumstances will they directly offer a place at the Benfica Academy. What they will offer the very best players is the opportunity to train and play at our world famous training ground (the same one the 1st Team uses) under the guidance of our Academy Coaches. They will also have the opportunity to showcase their skills playing against the academies of other professional clubs at an invite-only Tournament.
OUR PARTNERS
Our Partners, Veo, will be providing us with the industry-leading Veo 3, which will capture the activation sessions, the small sided games, and the full matches. These will be sent to all participating players for you to use however you wish license-free.

There is also the option to watch these sessions in real-time.
OVERVIEW
Though technically not an invite-only event, this Showcase is geared toward the most advanced players in the province, playing at either an amateur pr professional capacity. If you know someone that will be suited, please invite them to register.

If you are asked to 'pay' to join this experience by any other body, this is unofficial, and will be dealt with harshly. It is a free event. The only expenditure for you is to cover the cost of a numbered Benfica Showcase Jersey (€20) which you will be allowed to keep as a memento of your time with us.
